The artist tells us, "One early evening in summer we were relaxing by an artificially lit walkway in Lutry on the northern shore of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). As night fell, the lake became bathed in moonlight that etched out the peaks of the French and Swiss mountains to the south against a sky gently lit by the sun that had already set. On the other side of the lake, the lights of Evian-les-Bains and the surrounding villages began to twinkle. The foreground rocks were artificially lit at the side of the walkway"
