The Bürgenstock rock occupies a central position in Lake Lucerne. The north face is an almost vertical drop into the lake. Between 1900 and 1905 a cliff walk was tunneled and suspended onto this face 500m above the lake, offering magnificent views to the north all the way to the City of Lucerne and beyond to Lake Zug. The above view is looking eastwards along the cliff face. The nearest mountain is the Vitznauerstock / Gersauerstock, and in the distance we glimpse the peaks of the Rigi Hochflue and even the Grosse Mythen. |
